Two men stroll through the woods, telling stories, a mobile phone in hand, to capture an image of nature. On their cinematic journey from the Vienna Natural History Museum, via a Bolivian salt flat, to the virtual world of ‘Red Dead Redemption’, Philipp Hartmann and film critic Roger Koza meet friends, filmmakers and experts from various countries. They philosophise about the attempt to depict nature and connect through their love of cinema. Hartmann playfully weaves together art history and critiques of colonialism, the imagined and the factual. In its open, collaborative form, the film allows itself to be guided by its protagonists, and so the mosaic-like narrative, brimming with ideas, becomes, almost incidentally, a manifestation of friendship and cinephilia.
