Workshop with artists Carolin Liebl und Nikolas Schmid-Pfähler

New types of plastic are designed to break down quickly and easily, and are often labelled accordingly. In this workshop, participants can explore this property of the material alongside artists Carolin Liebl and Nikolas Schmid-Pfähler. As in their work ‘Cho. I’m breaking up with you.’, currently on display in the exhibition ‘The Glenkeen Variations: ArtNature/NatureArt’ at Crespo Haus, the workshop will also initiate the chemical breakdown of so-called bioplastics. Together with the artists, a lye bath will be mixed and the decomposition of various pieces of plastic observed.

Participants are welcome to bring plastic from home that is labelled as biodegradable or compostable. On site, we will then examine what type of plastic it is and to what extent this affects its degradability.

Participants are asked to register in advance. Maximum number of participants: 12. Minimum age: 18 years; children must be accompanied by a parent.

About ‘The Glenkeen Variations: ArtNature/NatureArt’

Glenkeen Garden is a landscape park on Roaringwater Bay in West Cork, Ireland, designed by Ulrike Crespo. Since 2021, it has been the location of our Artist in Residence programme, the results of which are shown for the first time in ‘Glenkeen Variations’.

‘The Glenkeen Variations: ArtNature/NatureArt’ marks a premiere in two senses. It is the first exhibition of the first phase of the Glenkeen Garden Residencies and the first exhibition in the open space of the new Crespo Haus in Frankfurt.
