We strengthen young artists in their professional development.

Today, young artists often rely heavily on the support of state or private beneficiaries. Most of these sponsors provide help in the form of classic grants and fellowships. The Crespo Foundation goes one step further: With its projects it also strengthens structures and institutions, which enable artists to mature and develop. In collaboration with its partners it creates contexts in which young artists can continue to develop and can present their works. In addition, the Crespo Foundation promotes networks and brings together those that stand at the start of their careers with others who are already established in theirs.

“In the fields of classical music, literature, dance and the performing arts the Foundation supports young people by making theaters available to them and enabling exchanges with established artists.”

Schauspiel Frankfurt numbers among the large, established theaters in Germany. Its excellent reputation is not only the result of outstanding productions and an ensemble that has received many awards. What is at least of equal importance is the fact that artists have repeatedly been able to move on to other renowned theaters from here and have thanks to their excellent training strengthened our reputation there.

Training and advancing the young acting talents of the future was and remains one of our most important tasks. In the Crespo Foundation we have found a partner who shares the same goals, namely promoting young artistic talents. In the fields of classical music, literature, dance and the performing arts the Foundation supports young people by making theaters available to them and enabling exchanges with established artists. It invests in networks and supports the training structures of cultural institutions in Frankfurt and the Rhine-Main region. So you could say also we make an excellent team.

One of my first decisions as Director of Schauspiel Frankfurt was to establish the “Frankfurt Studio Year”. In future, those studying Acting at the University of Music and Performing Acts (HfMDK) will become members of our ensemble for a year and are given acting practice. This provides us with direct contact to the talents being trained in the region. The University benefits by giving its students professional stage experience and contact with one of the best theaters in Germany. I am delighted that we were able to secure the Crespo Foundation to support a pioneering project, and wish us both every success in our cooperation!
